The noise generated by air-cooled chillers is a combination of mid to high frequency noise generated by the screw compressors (bottom of the unit) and low frequency noise being generated by the up-blast fans (top of unit).
Chillers are often placed in equipment yards constructed of “hard” cinder block. These hard surfaces create a reverberant sound field which magnifies and redirects noise to the surrounding community.
Kinetics Noise Control's sound absorption solutions reduce the adverse reverberant effect caused by chillers and other mechanical equipment.
Double-walled metal panels deliver superior sound absorption (noise reduction) and transmission loss (noise blocking). Assemble into plenums, enclosures, or barrier walls.

1 Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) is the average of coefficients at 250, 500, 1K and 2K Hz, expressed in the nearest integral multiple of 0.05.
2 Sound Transmission Class (STC) is determined by comparing test data with a set of standard STC contours as described in ASTM E413, Standard Classification for Determination of Sound Transmission Class.

PROJECT
The noise source is an outdoor air-cooled chiller. Noise is emanating into critical areas: screw compressors (on the bottom of the unit) generate mid/hi frequency noise; Up-blast fans (on the top) generate low frequency noise.
